The UNEP was created as a result of a national conference in the Human Environment in June 1927. Its headquarters are located in Nariobi, Kenya. The UNEP is the symbol of all global/national environmental issues.  Its function is brining issues to governments’ and international communities’ attention. It also helps emerging nations by fusing eco-friendly policies and supports development through environmentally sound policies. The activities of the UNEP cover a wide range of environmental issues including atmosphere, marine, and terrestrial ecosystems. Through its international conventions, it helps awareness about the environment. Collaborating with national governments, it helps to implement sound environment policies and funds and executes development projects relating to the environment.

Commission of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD)

CERD brings all of its Member States together by promoting universal respect for everyone in the world, disregarding race, sex, language or religion.  The Committee monitors its states by holding two sessions per year in Geneva, Switzerland for three weeks each.  At this meeting, the Committee’s monitoring on its states focuses on seeing if the new policies have caused conflict, on the inter-state complaints, and the individual complaints.  The organization also holds open discussions allowing states to express their views on the subject.  CERD supervises states globally with the 1969 Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Global Fund for Women

Global Fund for Women has rewarded over three million dollars to 300 groups in seventy-one countries since they were founded in 1987.  The groups that they fund either prevent or try to stop trafficking.  The funding organization also provides counseling for survivors of human trafficking, which assures them of their human rights.  Between the years of 2006 and 2007 alone, this organization provided over $800,000 to anti-trafficking groups.

Global Fund for Women is an extremely helpful organization to smaller groups that protest against human trafficking.  Any money that is donated supports women’s groups working to terminate the issue of human trafficking.  If this foundation has support then it also supports problems such as lack of education, violence against women, and poverty and conflict.
